Rizk Ventures was humbled and honored to co-host the amazing event “Zo’s All-Star Weekend Groove with a Purpose” with our good friends Alonzo Mourning and Tracy Wilson-Mourning of the Mourning Family Foundation. The “FUNraiser” was held at No. 8 in New York City on Thursday February 12th, 2015 and kicked off the National Basketball Association All-Star Weekend. Proceeds from the event benefited the Mourning Family Foundation’s programs and services that support underprivileged youth.
Tom and I, along with our children Geoffrey and Alexandra, have been long time supporters of Alonzo and Tracy’s work. Their efforts to champion the needs of children, which is a core component of our philanthropic efforts at Rizk Ventures, has been extremely inspiring to witness.
The event, spearheaded by our son Geoffrey, is a great example of how we have tried to fulfill our lifetime mission of service to others. We are proud of what he has accomplished and how he and Alexandra are furthering our legacy. The evening was a great success and we know that the crucial funds we raised will make a huge impact on the lives of underprivileged children.
“Our event brought together individuals of influence to celebrate All-Star Weekend and, more importantly, to give back to our community and discuss the powerful impact we can have nationwide,” said Tracy Wilson-Mourning. “We are so fortunate to have young brilliant business minds like Geoffrey Rizk and his family, Tom and Linda and Alexandra, who have committed to supporting us in our endeavors. Their work with our organization has been invaluable.”
The event featured Gayle King, co-anchor of CBS This Morning and Editor at Large for O, and MC Lyte who, along with Tracy Wilson-Mourning, co-hosted a roundtable discussion titled the “Power of Influence Through Sisterhood”. The enlightening conversation highlighted the empowerment of women that Honey Shine, Inc., a mentoring organization under the Mourning Family Foundation umbrella, provides to girls by encouraging education, advocacy, and leadership.
MC Lyte was our DJ for the night and she created an amazing musical experience for our guests. The night celebrated family, friendship, and our mission to pay it forward with the entire Rizk Ventures team coming out to support the event.
